Whole Person Healing
Holistic Herbalism goes beyond “what an herb is good for”. We select remedies and protocols that address our clients’ specific constitutions and imbalances by addressing the cause behind the symptoms.
Every person is unique and imbalances show up differently for each one of us. If you are plagued by a dry hacking cough, you will require a very different remedy than if you have a productive cough.
-
We consider various critical factors in our remedy selection, i.e. is the client running hot or cold, damp or dry, is the organ system overactive or underactive. How about the herb, food or supplement? Does it heat up the body or cool it down? Dry it out or increase dampness?
We study the phytochemistry of plants, along with how they interact with and affect body systems in order to select the appropriate remedy in a given situation.
Align with Natural Rhythms
Align with daily, monthly & seasonal rhythms to stay on track with your health goals.
We wear warm coats when it’s cold outside and lighter clothing when temperatures soar. Many of us intuitively eat cooling foods and beverages in the summer and warming during the cold winter months. That’s seasonal alignment. But we can go deeper than that to promote optimal health and achieve consistency with our healthy routines.
-
The same way you prep your wardrobe for the upcoming season, you can prep your body for seasonal shifts to optimize your immune health.
Not only that! Even our daily and monthly habits can support our physical and mental health by cultivating routines that nourish and regenerate rather than subdue and deplete.
Learn how to realign with natural cycles and rhythms to improve digestion, cognition, immune health, cardiovascular health and more!
We already live busy and hectic lives, that’s why Moonphase Apothecary has developed a system aligned with the moon phases to help you stay on track with your health goals.
Heal with Agency
Actively participate in your healing process. Cultivate an understanding about what helps YOU thrive as you progress towards balanced health.
Our long-term clients say that working with us is like being in an individualized holistic herbal program. They learn so much about how to support their body’s unique needs, whether with herbs, nutrition, lifestyle choices or other holistic modalities.
-
We teach clients how to recognize symptoms as the body’s way to communicate about deeper underlying imbalances.
“Authentic healing unfolds, when you actively participate in your healing process.”
Hi!
I’m Anushka Michele, founder and lead holistic herbal practitioner at Moonphase Apothecary. I have practiced herbalism and holistic nutrition for over 30 years and hold herbal certifications from The Healing Medicine Circle and Mary Blue’s Herbal Foundations. I have a strong background in holistic nutrition and my practice is greatly influenced by Ayurveda and the Vitalist healing traditions.
One of my primary goals as a holistic herbalist is to cultivate healing agency with my clients. Healing Agency is the ability for people to recognize and successfully address health imbalances naturally, rather than immediately reach for over the counter medications. Allopathic medicine does play an important role in health and wellness, however, there are natural remedies many people can safely choose before taking pharmaceuticals. Proactive health measures, healthy digestion, robust immunity and stress/sleep management are at the core of my practice. Holistic nutrition, seasonal cleansing, yoga, mindfulness and permaculture play key roles as well.
People seek support and comfort when they experience some type of symptom. Symptoms are important clues to deeper imbalances. While alleviating symptoms and easing discomfort is an important part of my work, I investigate and address the underlying imbalance. My clients are encouraged to seek medical diagnosis and lab work through their primary care providers as medical history contributes valuable information when designing relevant, comprehensive and effective healing protocols.
